Greg Goldman Appointed Director of The Philadelphia Center

As the new director, Instructor Greg Goldman, MS, has taken on an expanded role and now oversees external relations, internship and employer relations, and program operations. Greg’s background in organizational leadership, commitment to our students, and deep experience in Philadelphia allow him to advance The Philadelphia Center’s commitment to providing undergraduate students the opportunity to gain practical experiences through internships and develop a critical consciousness to change the world.
Greg joined The Philadelphia Center in January as lead instructor responsible for translating a First Voice instructional approach through the creation of the new Cultures and Communities seminar.
“I’ve come to understand that Greg knows just about everyone in Philly, is deeply committed to our students and the city of Philadelphia,” said Executive Director Tyler Hough. “I’m thrilled he’s decided to join our team in this role!”
In addition to his administrative role, Greg will remain as the instructor for The Philadelphia Center’s Cultures and Communities Seminar. Greg, a long-time resident of Philadelphia, brings a deep understanding of the city’s dynamics to his role. Greg’s teaching philosophy emphasizes mutual learning between educators and students, fostering an inclusive environment where all voices are valued and respected.
“I’m excited to be leading The Philadelphia Center at this critical time for the organization. As a long-time educator at Penn, I know how valuable it is for college students to get off campus and out into the communities of the City,” said Greg Goldman, MS, “TPC has served students, the business and nonprofit communities, and the City as a whole for nearly 60 years. It has more than 8,000 alumni, many of whom came to Philadelphia on this program and built their lives and careers here. It’s great to have the chance to help this important organization reach the next level.”
Meet Greg Goldman
Greg Goldman, MS, is an accomplished educator and community advocate with a strong academic background. He studied political science at Northwestern University and furthered his education by earning a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of Chicago. Greg has been teaching at the University of Pennsylvania in the Urban Studies Program and the School of Social Policy and Practice for nearly 3 decades. His courses focus on issues faced in Philadelphia’s urban spaces and the efforts that nonprofits and philanthropists make to address them.
Outside of his professional pursuits, he resides in the Mount Airy Area with his wife, where they actively engage in local initiatives and enjoy being part of their vibrant neighborhood.
